“You are what your deepest desire is. As is your desire, so is your intention. As is your intention, so is your will. As is your will, so is your deed. As is your deed, so is your destiny.”
~ Upanishads
We’re in a new moon phase that started at 12:37 AM ET today, June 18th. New moons are a time to start something new, to create intentions and visions for the coming month or even a period beyond that. Although this new moon began in Gemini, it quickly went void of course and then entered Cancer. Void-of-course is a time between signs, considered a bit like a retrograde. The energy at this time does not support creating new visions or intentions so it’s always good to wait. But we’re past the void of course now – so it’s a perfect time to dive into new moon explorations.

Even though the new moon moved out of Gemini quickly, this phase over the next two days still carries its energetic imprint. The Gemini monthly theme in my Energetic Explorations for Evolution Facebook community group is “Gathering Experience: Communication, Curiosity & Play”. This is also the last new moon before the upcoming Summer Solstice on June 21st here in the northern hemisphere, or Winter Solstice in the southern hemisphere. For those of us up north it can be a wonderful time to vision our Summer season.
Working with these Gemini energies can support our soul in remembering what lights us up. Curiosity and play help to nurture our inner children, which is much needed for healing and transformation, and our overall resilience. For me, thinking about the first sighting of fireflies or going to pick wild raspberries beings me so much joy. It’s an adventure to go in search of these things each year or be surprised when they just show up. Sometimes returning to familiar experiences or a favorite place can in a sense be what in shamanic healing we call a “soul retrieval”.
Summer can also be a time of rest and rejuvenation. Let’s face it, collectively we’ve been depleted these last few years. That’s beyond personal challenges, which have also been hard for most folks, too. Just beginning to think about new adventures can help to re-energize body, mind, emotion, and spirit. Adventures can take many forms from a trip to a new place, to reading an amazing book or to trying a new type of meditation or wellbeing practice. Fun can be a part of it, too. We all need that!
Here are some questions to explore during your Gemini new moon explorations…
- What experiences would you like to gather this Summer?
- How would you like to play or have more fun?
- Is there something you’ve been really curious or something new you are called to learn?
- What “lit you up” as a kid during childhood summers or even as an adult in the past?
- How will you create time and space for rest and rejuvenation this summer?
Plus, don’t forget that Gemini is a very social sign. Whether it’s having deep conversations with friends or family, or sharing your new knowledge or understanding, connection is a big part of it. So, think about how you will carry the experiences you gather into your relationships and the world. Maybe you even want to partner with a friend or group to explore this new moon!
As always, you may wish to journal, meditate, or create some type of new moon ritual to accompany your explorations and to anchor in the intentions or visions that are emerging.
